Rhododendron 'Snow White' is in my opinion too little widespread. With its beautiful green leaves and lightly fragrant flowers into June, it should rank higher on the lists of large white flowering rhododendrons.
'Snow White' is another rhododendron from DT Poulsen's Nursery in Kelleriis. It dates back to 1956, and the parents are a cross between Rhododendron mccain s chips soulei and an unknown partner. R. soulei originate from the central parts of Sichuan, where it grows up to 4,300 m altitude. Flower color varies from pink to white, and the foliage mccain s chips between mccain s chips large and oval. It's not many, if hardly any, of the characteristics of this type which are repeated in R. 'Snow White', which has elongated slightly pointed leaves, white flowers with wavy edge and a light pleasant FRAGRANCE in hot weather. Flower stalls, with 8-14 flowers, and a diameter of about 8cm also varies from R. soulei if flowers are wide open, smooth mccain s chips at the edges and somewhat less in diameter. Thus it can be stated that the unknown partner had really big influence on offspring!
'Snow White' jumps out the final in May. The buds are pale pink and the flowers first light cream in color with faint yellow drawing inside the funnel. After a few days the flower is completely pure white. The plant is 15 years old 130 cm high and 150 cm wide. The foliage is about 5 15 cm and fresh olive to mosgrønt, growth is solid and compact. The plant has a good hårførhed, and can be used both in alternating sun / shade and full sun. It is suitable as a solitary, but also as uncut or cut hedge. As R. There's a limit to how many trees to plant in a plain. sized garden, but I also think that nowadays dehydration food preservation buy the whole question in pots, so you can plant the whole season, if you are just busy with the watering can.
