This article is quite ironic plantain crisps because I just ate a Hostess Cupcake (which I normally never eat) as a lunch treat. It tasted awful! I remember when I was little how good foods used to taste. Reeses peanut butter cups used to be good too, now they taste like detergent. Fruits and vegatables used to be crisp and juicey, now they’re mushy and dry. Dorito’s used to be a favorite of mine, now they’re disgusting. Yeah, I know–I should be writing. But I promised you two wonderful recipes from my experiments with the Cook’s Country June/July 2011 issue. There were a whole bunch of other recipes we tried that worked out well, but these were our favorites and good enough to get me to subscribe.
By the way, I found these recipes were not only tasty, but they were great to do on a date (in this case, with my daughters). Why just eat when you can enjoy the time together as well? Besides, two people working together make these recipes a breeze. Chocolate radio seara Eclair Cake
Chocolate, vanilla pudding, whipped cream, and graham crackers–baby, is this good! I found I liked the cake best with HALF of the pudding radio seara and whip cream mixture. You’ll see the half amounts in parentheses. That way I got a taste of the pudding, graham, and ganache in every bite. The directions make it look like there’s a lot of steps, but they all go quickly.
Make Pudding Combine sugar, cornstarch, and salt in large saucepan radio seara Wisk milk into sugar mixture and bring to boil over medium-high heat, scraping bottom with rubber spatula. Immediately reduce heat to medium-low and continue to cook and scrape until thick bubbles appear on surface, about 4-6 minutes Take off heat and wisk in butter and vanilla. Transfer hot pudding to large bowl and place plastic wrap directly on surface. Refrigerate for about 2 hours until cool.
Make Whip Cream Mixture Stir water and gelatin together and let sit for 5 minutes. Microwave until gelatin dissolves radio seara and mixture gets bubbly radio seara around the edges, radio seara 15-30 seconds Whip 2 cups of cream on medium-low for about 1 minute, until foamy. Increase to high and whip for 2 minutes, until soft peaks form Add gelatin mixture and whip for 1 minute, until stiff peaks form
Layer Pudding Whip Cream Mixture with Graham Crackers Line bottom of 13 x 9 inch baking dish with a layer of graham crackers. Break and cut crackers if you have to. Top the bottom radio seara layer of crackers with of the pudding whip cream mixture Place another layer of crackers over the pudding. Top that layer with the rest of the pudding whip cream mixture Place one last layer of crackers over the second layer of pudding whip cream mixture
Make Ganache and Pour Over Microwave radio seara chocolate chips, C cream, and corn syrup in bowl 1-2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cool for 10 minutes to room temperature Cover top layer of graham crackers with glaze Refrigerate cake for 6 24 hours. Then serve.
A potato salad with a perfect dill zing. Everybody in the Brown household loved this. Super wife especially loved it because she does not like eggs. Please note that there’s fresh dill used in all three parts. So when you shop, make sure you get enough for all three. radio seara
Boil Potatoes Place chopped dill inside disposable coffee filter and time with thread. Put potatoes, dill sachet, and salt into large pot with enough water to cover the potatoes by 1 inch. Bring to boil on high heat then reduce heat to medium and simmer until potatoes are tender, 10 minutes
Cool and Soak Potatoes Drain potatoes thoroughly and throw away dill sachet radio seara Drizzle 2 T of the dill vinegar over hot potatoes and gently toss until evenly coated Refrigerate until cooled, 30 minutes. This allows the Yukon potatoes to suck up the dill vinegar.
Make dressing and Combine with Potatoes Wisk mayonnaise, sour cream, remaining dill vinegar, mustard, salt, and pepper until smooth Add dressing to cooled potatoes radio seara Stir in scallions and 2 T minced dill. Cover and refrigerate to let flavors meld, 30 minutes. Serve with salt and pepper to taste.

Nabisco’s brand is no longer wholesome. The makers of favorites like Vanilla Wafers and Teddy Grahams is propagating same-sex marriage—complete with newborn babies—in its latest 30-second commercial. Dubbed britco & bridco This is Wholesome, the agenda is indeed anything but. The commercial kicks off with a man feeding a baby. One would assume the man was the baby’s father. Seconds later, another man leans into the screen britco & bridco and kisses the baby on the head. The commercial reveals the baby’s two fathers taking the baby out for a walk, followed by images of other families spending time together. Of course, Teddy Grahams and Honey Maid graham crackers are intended to be the real star of the spot. “No matter how things change, what makes us wholesome never will,” the voiceover states. “Honey Maid: Everyday wholesome snacks for every wholesome family. This is wholesome.” Wholesome? Maybe Nabisco is using a different dictionary than the rest of us. Merriam-Webster defines wholesome as “promoting health or well-being of mind or spirit” and “sound in body, mind, or morals.” By either definition, Nabisco got it wrong. … How did Nabisco respond? The cookie company defended itself, releasing a new commercial showing two women holding up printed sheets of complaints people britco & bridco sent to Nabisco. The lesbians glue together the complaints to spell out the word “love” in cursive. The advertisement’s key message: “Proving that only one thing really matters when it comes to family: love.” … That said, Nabisco is still trying to shove something down my throat for which I have no taste. On February 19, my 17-month-old son went to his first protest.  A number of people, including politicians, union representatives from around the country and employees of the Nabisco Plant in Northeast Philadelphia gathered to let Mondelez International know that they are outraged by the decision to close the iconic Philadelphia factory, which will leave about 350 people without jobs, including my husband.   As a pastor in Philadelphia, I am constantly preaching about kingdom-building.  As parents we are trying to raise our son as ethically as we know how and we want him to know that what corporations like Mondelez do to employees is not ethical. 
Mondelez, Kraft, and Nabisco are one in the same.  Kraft bought food standards in india out Nabisco, then the company split into Kraft and Mondelez last year.  They make billions annually. 1.8 billion went to their share holders last year and their CEO took home $29 million, not including use of the company jet.  This is not a company that is hurting for money.  “This is a case of corporate greed on steroids,” State Representative Brendan Boyle said in the press conference held during the rally, “They brag about how much money they are making.”   He later wrote, “The decision to close the plant is a shocking window into the motives food standards in india and agenda of Mondelez International food standards in india and an example of the threat which outsourcing poses to working class families.”

The makers of Honey Maid graham crackers have come up with a unique response to anti-gay backlash by some against its commercial featuring two gay dads and their family. They printed out the negative comments and turned them into a piece of art that spells out Love.
On food preserver March 10, Mondelez International, which manufactures the popular crackers under the Nabisco brand, launched food preserver its This is Wholesome advertising campaign. The commercial features several different kinds of American families, including biracial and gay ones.
If that didn t make you hurl, just hold on. Liberals will not stop pushing the envelope until something stops them, and that something sure won t be their own taste, morals, or respect for the pillars of human civilization.
Reminds me of all the anti-Christian Leftists who when you point out all the shameful evils in the World, try to throw your own belief back in your face by saying “Where is the love? Jesus said to love everybody. You’re not a Christian, you’re full of hate.” Typical disgusting Leftist response.
